JMBassist
Hi I've bought a Z5 some weeks ago and I'm wondering what preamp is in this bass. I've opened the back cover but I can't see who's the producer, it only has writen "G & B co." Does anyone know what is this? I like the sound, but I have a spare bart XTMB-918f that was the pre from my Tobias Growler which was replaced by a OBP3 and I'm thinking about installing the bart into the Z5...?? Sorry for so many questions in one time. Hope to hear your opinions.

I know its strange, but I heard a lot about the Z5 with bartolini or nordtrand preamps and I'm courious if I can get a better sound with the bartolini solution since i have it in my desk... I like the sound, but if bart preamp gets even better i'll install it. Thats why I'm asking for opinions from people who have done the same. bassmeg
FWIW, i am in heaven with the sound of mine. It has an aguilar pre and nordstrand pups. But i cant compare with the stock sound as i bought it with the bits already on it.
bubinga5
If you like it why change..i may imagine the Bartolini 3 band to be a better unit though...
JMBassist
I've replaced the stock preamp with the bartolini. The sound is a little better and more reach on middle tone, but the more efective change is the output level, it's much higher with the barts.
