JMT3781
differing opinions and tastes... just think where the world would be without them. Personally i love being able to have a different style of takeaway every night, just as i love being able to listen to a different style of music with just a click of a mouse. So even if different peoples ideas cause little differences between people, I'm glad of them, because as a result life is varied and exciting... get my drift? But just as we all like to eat different food, where would we be if we could not discuss and argue our positions, the better to stimulate, enlighten and broaden ourselves. Oscar has posted some music he greatly loves but to me it is an abomination. However, I don't like funk at all but Crazykiwi once posted a gospel jam once that completely blew me away, I became mildly obsessed with it and it forced me to rethink. The debate is how we learn, it has its own purpose, it is how we surprise and delight each other. Peace x

Life is all about tension and resolution and enjoying the moment. The opportunity to apologise and make up if you've been a naughty, vociferous bass player is what creates and strengthens relationships. God knows I've pissed off a few people on here in my time, and people who have pissed me off, but in most cases we are now good friends and been to each other's gigs. That's life, celebrate it, it's what keeps the blood pumping.
ahpook
i've heard some bands that do the multi-bass thing quite well (rothko for example), but as for the all-star 'bass covention'-style jams i've seen posted here... they just don't do it for me. I've even been in some. But I agree with Mr. Pook here. Mind you, convention-style jams always sound awful to me, regardless of instrumentation. lojo
Yep, aside from a band I saw, and was on the same bill as many years ago, bands with more than one bass aren`t really for me. The band I mention was Spit Like Paint - two bassists, one doing the traditional root notes, the other playing more Peter Hook type melodies. I suppose the reason it worked was cos they didn`t have a guitarist or keys, so there wasn`t oo much going on. Def a one-off tho, in my view.
Indie version of the style you mention ...
