Status headless

I don't know what happened. I don't know how it happened. But it was something bad, and it happened to [url="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300485147191"]this bass[/url].

From the item description:

Can anyone identify the model? I'm not [i]au fait[/i] with Status models. I'm guessing it's a Series [i]x[/i]000, but I have no idea whether it's 1000, 2000, 3000...

I think you'll find it's one of the Status Completely f***ed series.

They're pretty rare these days, so should be worth a bomb.

I think the Energy basses were all headed. The 3000 had a similar looking knob arrangement though.

My guess is that it took a very sharp, heavy blow to a jack plugged into it, which fractured a whacking great chunk of wood off the front as the jack socket got slammed and twisted. Looks like someone's later tried to cover it up by screwing a control plate on, but they've given that up as a bad job.

This bass is haunting my thoughts.

As far as Energy is concerned theres very little to be found here! This is definately a 3000 series headless...i've previously had 2!.A Mint One Sold on here last week!

It says £51 on my screen.

If I was selling that, I'd certainly put a higher reserve than £51 on it - it's worth at least twice that just for the parts.

I'll disagree, I think it's a 1st run Energy, I owned 3 over the years, all headless with walnut bodies & thought they were 3000 models. The last one wnet to be refretted by Rob & he informed me it (& it's predecessors) were original Energy models. I have an old Status catalogue that lists the 3000 series as having a glass fibre body.

I bought one Brand New through A1 Music Manchester when they first came out, and it was wood/not glass fibre and it was sold under the title Status 3000.

I doubt there is much to split them apart from year of manufacture.
