dabootsy Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I was sitting watching Zing Zillas with my two small children, when suddenly Stuart Zender came on slapping his Warwick. I nearly fell off my settee sure it must be on website if you missed it Quote
thisnameistaken Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) It's on iPlayer here. How does that compare to the new Jamiroquai record btw? Edited October 27, 2010 by thisnameistaken Quote
RhysP Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 So we can expect the £4000.00 limited edition Warwick Stuart Zender/Zingzillas bass anytime now then. Quote
Wil Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Nice to see bass guitar represented on kids TV and not simply referred to as a big guitar! Quote
gafbass02 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Hahah you beat me to it! I was working on my jazz bass when the mrs starts yelling come quick! Ace! Quote
ThomBassmonkey Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 The accordian player/singer from one of my bands was on that program on Thursday (iirc) last week, I think it'll be months before he lives it down. He played the "twiangle" and looked suitably miserable while he did it haha. Quote
rOB Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) "it makes me tingle from my head to my toes!" love it. Is this a new program? Does anyone know who writes/plays the music? Edited October 27, 2010 by rOB Quote
Rayman Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Ha, that's funny. My youngest daughter watches Zingzillas, but that episode passed me by. I love Stuart, he's a big influence on me, but that Warwick bass......I dunno.......I just don't know if I could live with the shape. Quote
CPBassman Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I was a tad surprised too. Stuart playing very cool bass on a song about the wonders of bananas. It was quite a moment. Quote
steve-soar Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Thanks for posting that clip. He is a dude and a great player. Unfortunately, there will be a slap bass renaissance due any year now. Quote
lee650 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) absolutely brilliant, i watch this a lot with my 2 year old daughter, but havent seen this one, crazy!!! stuart was a big influence on my playing as a youngster, id only just started playing when i heard "to young to die" it blew my mind great line and a fantastic dirty tone, the zingzillas are great and introduce childen to a lot of diffent music/instruments, i will put my evie off panzies bass though!! Mrbigstuff Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Does this mean kids are gonna be pickin up bass at a young age? because i cant handle the competition Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) Is this whole thing an reference to that joke about about a dude who washes up on an island, and there is constant drumming, and whenever he asks the natives why there is this drumming they run away, until he catches one and forces him to tell him "What is going on with the drumming?" "When drumming stops, very bad!" "Why?" "When drumming stops... bass solo!" Edit: Also, should have had TM Stevens in, he looks like he'd fit in well with the other characters. Merton Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 My little boy was bopping away to it, loved it! The missus piped up that the slap bass "doesn't look hard at all". It's not for most people, but for my cack handed skill it is Quote
AndyTravis Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Seriously? Like others, i thought i'd seen every episode, and the day we don't watch it, bloody Stuart Zender's on it! Ella loves it 'GEETTTAHHH' and it's one of the less offensive kids programmes. Quote
sprocketflup Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Excellent program - they have made 52 episodes and the Beeb have only been showing 26 of them for ages, in the last week they seem to have been showing the others too - hooray! Love the program - all the music is by Banks and Wag Quote

Zing Zillas believe it or not is probably the most open minded, non judgemental, music programme on TV at the mo, they've had some serious jazzers on there like Lonnie Liston Smith on Hammond, Jim Hart on vibes, and lots of high quality classical bods as well - I just wish adults got an equivalent of this where we were left to judge the music on its own merits and not if it's the flavour of that particular month... like Later does. How does that compare to the new Jamiroquai record btw?
I think there's a veiled message as to why Stuart Zender left Jamiroquai too, obviously the names have been changed to avoid legal troubles though: However, Zak is very upset because his special breakfast banana has gone missing and he thinks someone has eaten it. All he found was a banana skin with no banana in it. He declares that he can't write anything for 'Synkronized' until he finds out who ate his banana. Todd likes nothing more than a good mystery so he suggests they look for some clues. However all the clues they find appear to point to Zak, so they decide to lay a trap to catch the culprit. Quote
