Trace Elliot Compressor

Hi Folks,

I have a Trace Elliot AH500 (circa 2001) and theres a bit of crackle coming from the compresion balance pot , once it adjusted and set its ok but if you go to make any further adjustments it crackles , anyone else experienced this with the same amp ? amp works 100% apart from this and once ive set the compression I don't go at it so it's not really an issue but stiil wouldnt mind getting it sorted .

This sounds like a dirty pot, which is a very common problem indeed. It's easy enough to fix yourself if you buy a can of switch cleaner like Servisol and follow the instructions. If that fails, which is unlikely IMO, fit a new pot. That's a relatively easy DIY job, too, if you are handy with a soldering iron.

Good man! It's always handy to have a can of switch cleaner around. It will last for decades and you never know when you'll need it next.
