noelk27
And you don't think that neck looks in fantastic condition for a '65? Not that there's much of a '65 left - replacement pickups, pots, jack and wiring - all the bits that make the thing sound like a vintage Fender. 99ster
If the pickups, electrics & pickguard have had to be replaced then you can pretty much guarantee that sometime in the past somebody stuck in an extra pickup or two - which involved machining out big chunks of wood that have been now been filled & painted over... So IMHO way over-priced for a (very) incomplete re-fin - as a genuine 60's pickguard (with aluminium shielding plate that this bass is missing) + original pickups will cost a lot of money to source. The neck? May very well have had an nitro overspray - which would make it look 'new' & shiny.
0353203
Thanks for your comments on my 65 sonic blue refin. I attach a photo of the body having been initially sanded down - no large chunks out of it as you can see. The neck hasn't been oversprayed. One thing I can guarantee is that it plays wonderfully well.
