Stylo bass sound

I am not up on effects sounds, please can someone say how much of this bassline sound is created by the electric bass and with what effects ?

Or is there other synth going on, cant imagine Mr S wanting to play under to much stuff

Sounds like the synth to me. Around 2:20 it shows the keyboard player, looks like he's playing the bass line.

Parts like that are difficult to do with effects. You can't really use a synth pedal because it won't track quickly and cleanly enough, and you will need an ADSR envelope generator to either apply to the amp or the filter to get that staccato sound. There aren't many of those available, and again it would be a matter of finding one that triggers regularly enough to make a convincing synth sound.

I did make a patch on my Octavius Squeezer that sounds a lot like that but I am not at all confident that it would perform well enough for a tune with 16th notes like that one.

Since that particular track is being played to a click (and therefore probably some kind of sequencer with MIDI clock) it would be simple to do with a [url="http://www.rogerlinndesign.com/products/adrenalinn3/adrenalinn3.shtml"]Linn Adrenalinn[/url]

Can't really add anything, but I do love playing that bassline. Same goes for most of their songs to be fair.

An Adrenalinn would do it, but to really get it tight you'd have to midi-sync your band and get your drummer to play to click (thats what we did!)
