Delberthot Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) After Friday's gig, I've come to the conclusion that I really like having the bridge pickup as high as possible to use as a ramp but I'm finding that it is choking the sound, especially when using a pick I am going to drop the pickup down a tad but still like the ramp idea so am looking for something to slot between the 2 pickups on the bass. I'd prefer ebony cos I wouldn't need to paint it but any dark wood would be fine as long as I can trim it to size easily. I had thought about buying a fingerboard blank and cutting it to size but I want to do this as cheaply as possibly Edited November 1, 2010 by Delberthot

AndyTravis Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 I've got a double bass fingerboard. Thing is, it's radiused, and you'd end up having to make a 'sandwich' out of three offcuts. Ebony is pretty easy to match up though, so wouldn't look too crap. I'd ring a couple of local luthiers first, and get an offcut, probably a lot less work. I was keeping it to do the same thing...
