thisnameistaken Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 A mate of mine did this, called it the "man room", and also put a bed in there and a fridge and a big poster of Cantona! Quote
crez5150 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 My first thought is buy your missus something nice.... as you'll be spending more and more time in that room... Also I would look at buying a 5/6 way headphone amp and some half decent cans so you can wear these while rehearsing.... much better than going through the hifi Quote
Dom in Dorset Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I did the same with a garden shed, insulated, lined it and put in power. It seems to have turned into a brewery at the moment. Quote
dougal Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Mine's called "the man cave". We do quite a lot of playing with electronic drums & headphones in there. I heartily recommend the fridge like rack unit for mounting all the rack stuff (and a rack mixer, of course, for evening out levels). Saves a lot of time plugging everything in. Also, I second the headphones over hi-fi; it'd have to be some pretty serious kit for volume levels, and you're liable to blow the speakers unless you compress the mix: have you considered a cheap PA / active monitors instead? EdwardHimself Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Since we're posting "man rooms": unfortunately I'm nowhere near rich enough to afford posh things like "soundproofing". When i'm older i'm going to have a go at making a proper home studio that's for sure Quote
lojo Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) I have some pretty good large speakers and an amp, I was hoping to mix it all on a small mixer, DI from guitars, drums etc, and then have that all run through the amp as one mix? I know its not very professional, but I thought it might work ok without having to spend out on to much new kit, then we can play at the same sound level as Id listen to CDs / movies etc. Edited November 2, 2010 by lojo Quote
