Hi Chris - thanks for your interest in my 'Ray.

It's an original, born December 1989, with Alnico magnets and maple neck. I bought it around 1997/98 and the only mod was when I swapped out the original white guard some years ago for the white pearl that is still fitted. It's been my main go-to bass since day one and I love it.

I'll let the bass do the talking though ;)

Here's my white baby . . . .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCedGkjV-W0

It's a heavily restored '74 neck, with a Geddy body, refinished in Nitro, 74 bridge, electrics and tuners, Wizard 84 pups and a modern scratchplate.
Just seen this thread up again and also just noticed the guitarist in the is band, I used to play with him whe he played Dahn Sarf back when I played guitar. Say hi to Martin for me.

Hey EBS freak, I so love that GB!!

Here's a pretty sexy fretless Windmill:
I remember seeing this Windmill bass. My GB was originally going to have white pickups also - but I decided against it because it couldn't be guaranteed that the epoxy would match exactly the colour of the bass. I thought two different whites would potentially look a little iffy.

The pickup cover/ramp of the windmill is polyestered to match the colour of the bass. I considered this also but I was concerned about the wear of the polyester with constant rubbing from the fingers - the epoxy pickups eventually go shiny but they go unnoticed compared to worn polyester!

The windmill is a beautiful bass though - one which has caught my eye before.

Oh wow... a white bass thread! How come I didn't see this before?!?!

Here are my offerings:

2009 Fender J Standard MIM in Antique White. Pretty basic, but I think it's pretty in white / white / maple

My Bitsa '51 in a white stain and oil finish.

I love how the black PU's on your GB stand out vs all the white!

Actually, I've been told the Windmill's ramp is one piece of ebony that's been finished just the same as the body. Perhaps by "polyestered" you mean just that? You can see the wood showing at the bottom of the slot for the neck PU. Had this bass for a year or two and played it lots, but after a change of bands it was just too white and too fretless to be brought along to enough many gigs and I had to let it go. Miss it from time to time, but at least I know the guy who has it now.

Seems sensible to include this... it doesn't get much more white...

If you don't mind me asking, around what kind of budget would I need for one like that? Even though I've drooled over this pic before, seeing it here sparks the GAS all over again. :gas:

Yes - polyester = paint, same as body.

Just picked up this bitsa off here, debating if it wants covers on it. One of the basses I've owned that I can't put down the neck is absolutely perfect.

Here's my only white bass.
It's made out of a Fenix body, scratchplate, and bridge, a Allparts fretless neck with ebony fingerboard, J-sonic pickups, and the usual CTS/Orange drop electronics. I traded it for a H&S Sequoia 6 string, and I'm really happy with this. Just needs a good setup, which will be done by it's godfather.

My Alpine White Epi Flying V reissue. I love her dearly. <3 You get quite a good look at her if you skip to around 1:55. I should probably add that, in the unlikely event of people going off and watching other videos of us, we don't actually play the majority of the songs we have videos of now. Some of them were, quite frankly, terrible ideas. As were the acoustic sets we did when our second drummer left/got kicked out. I mean, we only did three, and two of them were absolutely awful, to the point that I actually wanted the building to collapse in on me, but then we played at the very first run of this local acoustic weekender, and people loved us. It's well past my bedtime and I'm talking to myself. I should probably just let you look at the pretty bass now.

I don't have very many pictures of me playing her live, let alone good ones, and most of the pictures I've taken are either horrible quality webcam shots or they don't have the whole bass in them, such as this one;

I still think that this is one of the coolest bass guitars that I have ever seen
Thanks!

Unfortunately due to the size and weight I've only been able to use it at one gig so far as most of the stages my band play on are far to small for me the wield this with the risk of seriously injuring either one of my fellow Terrortones or someone in the audience. However I plan to take it into the studio when we record our next single.

Sweet looking Jazz gsgbass :gas:

Here's my white bass, a Levinson Blade B3 from '92, I'm pretty happy about it :)

Thank you, You're '92 Levinson Blade B3 jazz bass is great looking. How do you like the Markbass F1? I recently played through some Markbass amps at a local shop, and was throughly blown away by their awesome sounds. :D

Posted

Hi thanks, the F1 is great, compact and powerful. I'm just gig occasionally so it's good to have a rig that doesn't take up much space at home but makes me heard when I gig B)

I was trying some other cabs with the Hartke LH500 head. So far, for price and the tone I like with my Jazz, the Acoustic B410 is doing good for me. If I was gigging though, I would seriously be considering the Markbass amps.
