LemonCello
Bought some Shaller strap locks for my Squire P. The new screw is too skinny for the hole made by the old screw. Trying a fatter screw doesn't work as it won't fit through the hole in the strap lock? Any ideas peeps? Frustrated of Cardiff
Badass
Told by a Luthier once to add a matchstick, or a slice from it into the hole along with a little wood glue. Then use the original screw. Edited November 3, 2010 by Badass
Low End Bee
I used cocktail sticks and wood glue. Held for 3 years so far.
Deep Thought
I drilled out the Schaller button and used the original screws. I stick to Grolsch bottle washers these days.
dave_bass5
I recently had to plug the holes at a gig to secure some strap pins. I used splinters from a drum stick. Not ideal but they feel solid enough.

John Birch told me he'd drill out the hole bigger & fill it with a wooden kebab stick, then redrill the hole.
LemonCello
Thanks for all the info guys, really appreciate it. I did have the matchstick trick in mind tbh but interesting that they might be too soft! Cheers, LC
BigRedX
Which is why cocktail sticks are better.
