Chords on a Bass?

I play chords on my 6 string. Sometimes it's big power chords over all 6 strings (just 1sts and 5ths) but normally i'll play triads in the upper registers with loads of effects on for more "ambient" sections.

Cmaj9 is my favourite... although I don't get to use it too often. Diads all the time... they just fill out the sound.

I tend to play more appegios than chords as I find it difficult to control the sound playing a full chord. I was thinking of getting a capo onto my 5 string to make it easier to play chords higher up the neck. Does anyone else do this ?
