Bilbo Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Story of my life. What's the worst thing that can happen? Its an Ornette Coleman gig!! Quote
Pete Academy Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 If you get stuck, pretend your lead is dodgy and stop playing...never fails. Quote
machinehead Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I've done this myself quite a few times. It always turns out better than you expect. Keep calm and enjoy yourself. Frank. Quote
essexbasscat Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 So how'd it go then ? C'mon, tell tell tell ! Quote
sk8 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Posted November 6, 2010 survived and got paid Went okay but its not what i would choose to play Quote
Dropzone Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Only done that once and never doing it again. My band cancelled a gig last minute and I got some muso friends who I have never jammed with together. It was like watching a train crash and having your fingernails pulled out at the same time. The other bad one was when the singer insisted on playing a song that none of us had listened to. He was in a little world of his own living the dream, whilst the rest of us were in the very real world of living the nightmare!!! Quote
EssentialTension Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 (edited)
with songs and a band i don't know without even a practice! Should be a laugh
A couple of weeks ago I went to a pub to see a band. I used to be in a different band with the guitarist. 'Hello', I said. 'Have you brought a bass,' he said, 'our bassist hasn't turned up.' Then he drove me home to collect my gear and we played two sets, including two songs I'd actually played before, and I got my £50. They got booked back there for January 30th. Edited November 12, 2010 by EssentialTension Quote
