Clarky
After an embarrassing amount of buying and selling I have finally worked out what I want and need. Between these three basses I have passive retro/motown thump through to bright-sounding modern rock covered. 1. A lovely flatwound-wearing Fender Precision (in this case a 2005 CS Pino Palladino model which I have long coveted and recently acquired from BC'er Legion). Yes, Beedster, I have moved on my 73P back to original owner Chris Kelly so you will never speak to me again! 2. A nice maple-necked Fender Jazz without binding/blocks and heavily lacquered neck (which I just don't like, as I discovered when I went down the vintage route). I now have a nice oly white 2009 MIA one (which I was the original owner of, before I sold it on a vintage quest, but have managed to buy back) 3. Ahem, sold it! Replaced with fretless Jazz which can be seen a few posts down Anyway, enough guff, here's the porn pics: Edited November 30, 2010 by Clarky

Legion
Glad to hear that you are working out where you are going with your basses mate. Nice Pino, but I must resist the urge to own too many basses and wistfully want it back
silverfoxnik
Very nice trio; and as a complete contrast to the two Fenders, the Alembic is very sexy IMO...
lozbass
Lovely Clarky - all three beautiful examples of their type - the Pino and Alembic are the true standouts for me. As a serial gear-shuffler I know it's fantastic to have that feeling of contentment (however fleeting)
EssentialTension
Very very nice Clarky ... but where is your wife sleeping?

Linus27
Hey Clarky, whats the Pino like? Anything special or just a run of the mill Precision?
Clarky
Hey Clarky, whats the Pino like? Anything special or just a run of the mill Precision?
Its a 62 reissue that's been relic'd and given a faded fiesta red over desert sand gold paint job by the Custom Shop. So it is a bit of both - a Precision but a bit special in my view. I especially love the paint job - my favourite ever on a Precision. My pics make it look more red than the reality, its quite a pink red colour in reality.
Beedster
After an embarrassing amount of buying and selling I have finally worked out what I want and need. As my little bit of Metallica worship, my stealth black Alembic Spoiler. TBH this is a bit on the heavy side for me (11 pounds) but it sounds and looks so good I am going to stick with it. Its also the highest quality bass of the three in terms of components, manufacturing etc. Alembics really are something else. Anyway, enough guff, here's the porn pics: I've had false dawns with other basses but I am supremely happy with these three and GAS-free (barring wanting a nicer EUB but thats a different story). I've even stopped trawling the Basses FS section of BC! I will have another crack at fretless at some point if I can find a good-priced Fender Tony Franklin but thats all I can envisage being after.
LOL, Point 1. Correct, I'm not talking to you Point 2. I think I was also an owner? If so, a great bass in every respect. Point 3. Rock bass. I'm not talking t you again! Nice one Clarky C
Clarky
On the Jazz, you were indeed the second owner after me! If you recall, we met off the M3 to do the deal and you felt the call of nature very strongly Feel free to return to speaking to me if your studio demands necessitate you selling your TF-alike fretless
