Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Just reading a post where someone mentioned something interesting about Ashdown amps. I have a soft spot for Ashdown - I always liked my MAG stack when I had it and only replaced it to get a lighter rig. I went to the ashdown website to check out what the current ranges are like. Whilst I am doing this I am listening to music on iTunes. As soon as my browser loads up the Ashdown homepage some cliched tuneless heavy nonsense spews out of my speakers (which my daughter informs me is known as screamo). With no obvious stop button on the page & not wanting to hang around long enough to look for one I close the window and am none the wiser about Ashdown's current range. I'm not in the market for a rig, but you never know I may have had a severe attack of gas on seeing something there. Don't the company or their web design agency realise that autoplaying music on a website hasn't seemed like a good idea to anyone with any sense since about the late 90s. Quote
leschirons Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Yes, most annoying and unwelcome. Seems you get 2 seconds to hit the "bass products" tab and then it stops. Quote
markstuk Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Intensely annoying.. Warwick used to do this , thankfully they've stopped... Thunderfunk do it as well... Quote
EdwardHimself Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 This is why i have "noscript" on my internet browser Quote
bartelby Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 That's why I have http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/index.asp bookmarked, rather than their homepage Quote
Protium Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Click on the video to pause it. Easy peasy. Quote

bh2 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Adding this sort of stuff to websites is just not done and is, at best, unprofessional. It also make me angry. I use ashdown gear as well. Quote
AttitudeCastle Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Gallien Krueger is the same! With no way to stop it at all! Its a bit tacky, elevatorish haha Quote
Chris2112 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 How naff! I have to say Ashdown are a company that can be fantastic when they get things right. They need to concentrate of products like the Mark King series - cool, classy and about as good as amps get! I'd rather see them push their amps than some dodgy bands who use them. Quote
