Which new replacement neck

In my quest to find a p bass maple fretboarded neck I've been searching on here and checking out ebay every few hours over the last couple of weeks.

So far no luck, typically there are plenty of jazz necks and a fair few rosewood p bass necks.

I've thought about ordering from one of the sites in the states that has a few 57 ri mexican necks, but by the time I factor in the shipping, V.A.T. and duty it becomes too costly for me at the moment.

Now I'm thinking of maybe buying a new one and trying to age it myself.

So some advice on where to buy from and which manufacturers you would recommend. I've seen a new Mighty Mite maple f/b neck on ebay for what seems like a reasonable price and the seller does offer a vintage look laquer and decal service.

Any tips/pointers gratefully received, thanks

Gary

No I hadn't even considered that as an option, but would be interested to know more about it, thanks.

Contact Lawrence ( http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showuser=5058 ) he's a really nice guy and knows his stuff.

He's making me a 5 string neck for a Jazz project I'm working on http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=95012

I had a waterslide logo made up to go on the finished neck if you did the same you could have a P bass neck built exactly as you want it and badged to look like a custom bass or get a Fender decal if that's more your thing.

If you do drop him a note say hi from me.

I've got a Mighty Mite maple neck from t'EBay, which is really, really good (I sold my 08 MIA P on the strength of it). Cost less than £80. If there's nowt on Ebay, they can be had for a little more than that, but they're still worth it IME.

I'll echo the sentiments of Muzz and 211dave112, I've got a Mighty Mite neck on my Marcus Miller Jazz and it's brilliant, the finish is so thin it means it's a dream to play! There were a couple of rough fret ends but they've calmed down over time. I love playing it, it's easily the nicest neck I've played, including the 09 American Standard P I used to have, and over the last few months it's really worn in nicely. Same as Muzz, it cost less than £80. I'm looking at putting together a P Bass in the new year and I'll definitely use Mighty Mite again.

If you have a look at this thread here, Happy Jack's ordered a neck direct from Mighty Mite with no problem at all with regards to duty and tax.
