Happy Jack Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Conveys the interest and the desire, but without making any real commitment. I have a hankering to try DB (see Clarky's many threads for the source). I have lots of electric basses (see the photo-link from my sig). I have very little spare cash (see the letter from my bank). Probably because I have lots of electric basses (see above). I could look out for a cheapie DB to have a try on; http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_kontrabass_111.htm is always available, and there are similar DB's available in the UK. Before I drift that way, an alternative would be to offer a swop. Anyone here with a decent (but not great - t'would be wasted on me) DB that they're looking to swop for an electric bass? Or two. Light-hearted post, but serious suggestion. This is WLTM but not (yet) a proposal. Quote
Mykesbass Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 I'll see your hanker and raise it with a ponder - Aria SWB EUB (the one with the piezo and magnetic p/up), missing the funny little piece that is supposed to support it against your body but never made much sense to me when I played it. I just can't get on with anything without a low B, but as I say, it's very much a ponder at the moment! Quote
Happy Jack Posted November 8, 2010 Author Posted November 8, 2010 Are you looking for one, offering to swop one, or merely pondering? Quote
Happy Jack Posted November 8, 2010 Author Posted November 8, 2010 In that case, before you ponder too far, it really is a DB I want to try - the real thing. Quote
Mykesbass Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Fair enough - worth a ponder, but I think I'm with you, the real thing is out there on my ultimate wish list (somewhere just after a new house with room for it to go in)! Quote

What sort of DB is it? (Thomann / Stentor / Anton Whatsit / Other). How playable was it when it arrived? Quote

The DB forum is usually a bastion of decorum and probity and then along come Jack and WPD and suddenly its nipples and grease-guns. Pass me the smelling salts, Violet! Quote
