markbass555 Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 (edited) What do you guys prefer? A signial from your amp straight to the desk or a Mic at the cabinet? Or like me be greedy and a bit of both!!!!! LOL Dave Edited June 2, 2007 by markbass555 Quote
Basszilla Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Both, if possible. Gives you more bass girth out front Quote
woodenshirt Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 (edited) Preferably, both for me - DI'd and an AKG D112 (is there a better bass mic?). Mart Edited June 2, 2007 by woodenshirt Quote
JPJ Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Live = DI straight to desk, from amp so after compression. Recording = Mike off-axis for a big full sound [quote name='woodenshirt' post='11228' date='Jun 2 2007, 11:34 PM']Preferably, both for me - DI'd and an AKG D112 (is there a better bass mic?). elros Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 After I started using the Roland V-Bass, I go DI both live and in the studio. Great sound, no hassle. No, really. I'm very happy with it. Quote
slaphappygarry Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 DI out back of ampeg with something close to the cone (usually a D112) and something a bit further back (condensor, usuallt a 414 or Nuemann if i am lucky enough to have one) for a fuller roomier sound. These are mixed and brought up at differant levels for differant tracks to suit. If a slap part or melody or whatever kicks in the di goes up and the room comes down and if its just beef i am after vice versa. Generally for demo's and quick stuff i just DI for simplicity. G Quote
fragility Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 Mics ideally, but for home recording, DI all the way!! Quote
