Looks like a copy of an Ampeg Scroll bass. Most likely an [url="http://www.eastwoodguitars.com/"]Eastwood EUB-1[/url]. Definitely not the Italia Imola as the headstock is wrong. I don't think it's the real thing (or the really good Johnson copy) because the bridge doesn't look right.

[url="http://music.hyperreal.org/artists/brian_eno/interviews/sos90b.html"]This interview from 1990[/url] mentions "an old 1964 Ampeg fretless bass". I think Ampeg weren't even producing basses yet in 1964, but, y'know... mere details. :)

I'm now pretty sure it's an [url="http://xstrange.com/amb1.html"]Ampeg AMUB-1[/url] from either 1968 or 1969.

The earlier version - the [url="http://xstrange.com/aeb1.html"]AUB-1[/url] didn't start production until 1966 and has a different elongated tail piece/bridge which Eno's bass most obviously doesn't have.
