Annoying Twit
Which bass is it at the beginning of this youtube clip? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21yu3RG80lU
BigRedX
Looks like a copy of an Ampeg Scroll bass. Most likely an Eastwood EUB-1. Definitely not the Italia Imola as the headstock is wrong. I don't think it's the real thing (or the really good Johnson copy) because the bridge doesn't look right. BottomEndian
Looks like one of the Ampeg fretless basses from the 60s.
BigRedX
Having looked into this further it might well be a real Ampeg. However it looks like the revised version - AMUB-1 rather than the original AUB-1.
BottomEndian
This interview from 1990 mentions "an old 1964 Ampeg fretless bass". I think Ampeg weren't even producing basses yet in 1964, but, y'know... mere details.
BigRedX
I'm now pretty sure it's an Ampeg AMUB-1 from either 1968 or 1969. The earlier version - the AUB-1 didn't start production until 1966 and has a different elongated tail piece/bridge which Eno's bass most obviously doesn't have.
