otis_b_flywheel
Hi there, I live in Strathpeffer which is a small village in the east Highlands of Scotland, and am the owner of an Overwater 4-string fretless that is my pride and joy along with a new classical guitar that is another of my musical passions. I played double bass at school (a very long time ago) and took up electric bass roughly ten years ago, more seriously since 2008 when I became part of a ceilidh band and also took my grade 3 Rock School bass exam. I use an Ashdown Mag 300 amp for gigs and also for most practice, although as I live in a semi-detached bungalow I have to be careful not to annoy my neighbour! I did grade 4 Rock School last year and am sitting the grade 5 on 27 November - plenty of work to do before then - in fact I should be practising not posting on forums ;-). In the band I play Scottish traditional music and enjoy trying to write inventive bass parts for the dance tunes. I am pretty hopeless at playing by ear, being classically trained and a good music reader, but both the band work and Rock School are helping me improve. I enjoy playing all the styles that Rock School throws at me, and am finding the Chris Kringel fretless bass tutor (Hal Leonard pubs) very inspiring. Looking forward to being part of this forum. Cheers Tim
