Wozzer Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Hi, Just purchased my first fretless bass a Squier VM Jazz and bought some Trubass 88's at the same time. They are the longscale RS88LD which from Rotosounds website is the correct length. However the E string goes around an inch past the post on the tuning head before the wrapping starts. It says on the Rotosound website that with the Trubass strings that they break if the string goes around the post. Anyone have any experience of this? Will it be ok to fit them? Thanks W. P.s. The "ear" came off the machine head as I was turning it so this bass after 2 days so I'm going to have to exchange it anyway. Lovely bass for the cash though. Newbie. Quote
BassBod Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 That looks like you'll just be ok as it is. The problem is that when its stretched and under tension, it may creep further round the tuner post, and that's when they can break. One low tech solution is to put a few small washers by the ballend, but you may scratch the body doing it..and you'll only get 2-3mm extra. Send the photo to Rotosound and get their opinion, before you tune it up! Quote
