philw Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I regularly swap between my Wal and Steinberger EUB during gigs and am getting completely fed-up with plugging and un-pluging (probably doesn't look all that cool either as I bend over to display a flash of builder's bottom to three old deaf blokes and a dog in some godforsaken tavern). So, I need a switching preamp/DI of some description. I'd also like to have separate eq settings for each instrument. So, it seems my choice boils down to either the Sansamp Bass Driver Deluxe or the EMS Microbass II. They's even both the same price (from The Bass Centre). Any preferences or experience here? algmusic Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I've tried both... EBS is very good some may argue better... but I think it's over-complicated in the design as the 2 channels are not the same.. The sansamp (programmable) is simple and straight forward and build like a brick.. This is MO though.. Quote
cocco Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I love my programmable bddi. But it only has one input. Quote
Lozz196 Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 I`ve just changed my setup, and have added in a Sansamp Bass Driver. At practice the other night I was able to get "my" sound very easily. However, I do like a warm old-school slightly driven sound. If these types of sounds are what you`re after, the Sansamp will do it. No experience of the EBS, so can`t comment on this one. Quote

I've not tried the EBS but the Sansamp is very flexible with a lot of useful features, optional programmable FX loop, paralell output, 2 inputs etc. It only really does one sound (Ampeg-ish) but if you like that, you're set! paulie Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I have tried the EBS and its really well made but I hated it. THe sansamp will make any amp sound like a 70's SVT so if you like that sound, go for it Quote
