Cab build question.

If I wanted to have a cab with 2 speakers to run at 8OHMs would I need to get 2 16OHM drivers?

Yes, if you connected them in parallel, or 2 x 4ohm drivers in series

Am I right in thinking that if I wire in parallel if one stops working the other will continue to work?

Yes & No. If you wire two 16 ohm speakers in parallel, you'll get 8 ohm. If you wire two 4 ohm speakers in series, you'll still get 8 ohm.

Oops answered. Yes to your 2nd Q. Although it will only draw about 60% of the power that the 2 them was.
