pete.young
Over the last week or so, I've been getting a few strange 'No Redirect' messages instead of a page. This might be part of the same problem. I'm using Firefox on OpenSolaris. Not sure where this is coming from, maybe from my ISP, Plusnet . ped
Cheers Pete. I have contacted them again and expect news soon. Pretty annoying!

I lied!! It appears to have uploaded on here, after all! Edited January 14, 2008 by andyonbass

Machines
It's the forum database software crashing - it'll affect everyone trying to access the site when the problem is in effect. phatmonkey knows the details..
cheddatom
How much is it for more bandwith? how much do you get in donations? If BC is broke you should make it clear and people will donate no problem (I think!).
ped
Money isn't the problem, its finding a good alternative. Something me and Kiwi are looking into at the moment.
Machines
Bandwidth isn't the problem either..
MythSte
Peds always the problem. We can start by getting him an iron. OOOOayeeee. (your doing a great job really matey )
ped
LOL. I was living on the floor of the studio all week. I was concentating on keeping my basslines sharp, not my t shirt! With hindsight I could have folded it up.
cheddatom
Have you tried Myzen hosting?
tauzero
Current plan is to switch to our own dedicated server, so if anybody has any colocation recommendations, that'd be great.
I use 123-reg.co.uk to host my websites. Not sure if all the infrastructure to run BB software is there but I suspect it is. I'll ask a couple of people I know who have dedicated servers what they use. Of course, if you have a fixed IP address, you can run one at home.
cheddatom
if you have a fixed IP address, you can run one at home.
How much would it cost for that kind of bandwith though? It'd be cheaper to get a dedicated server surely? http://www.zen.co.uk/hosting/ I don't have a dedicated server, but I have a virtual server running 7 sites, 5 of which are shopping carts, no issues at all an they'll really try and help you out as well if you have any problems. I find 123-reg/pipex a bit of a bitch to deal with regarding tech support. Zen hosting (sorry, I said myzen before 'cos that's my subdomain thing) always answer the phone, 123-reg always have me on hold to a computer for 15 minutes. I don't know what BC uses - I was on a standard 2MB line (don't think I'll be able to get 8MB, I'm too far from the exchange).
cheddatom
Wow, that's an amazing deal! Not dealt with them though.
