AndyTravis Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Hi folks, I need 2 10ft/12ft cables, my Fender Platinum Bass cable sounds great, but tangles like a bugger and does my head in. Everyone else in the band uses Planet Waves as does my brother who I live with, I don't want to buy the same, as they're all sods for mixing gear up. So, Monster, VanDamme, Klotz...any other recommendations? I'm willing to pay up to £50 a cable, could do with right angles one one of the ends, but i'm sure i'll survive with straight ends. I could do with a reliable online supplier, as i'd rather have them by next week or so. Please fill me with information! Quote

AndyTravis Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 (edited) Should I just use some £4.99 no namers then? OBMM? Does he make cables? Edited November 14, 2010 by AndyTravis Quote
flyfisher Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 (edited) While you're trying to figure out the cryptic clues (hint: search for user 'OBBM', he makes cables), one way of 'branding' a cable as your own is to use some garishly coloured heat-shrink sleeving. Maplins supply it, among many others) and it's easy to apply a ring (or more) of sleeving to your cable(s) for easy and undisputable identification. Edited November 14, 2010 by flyfisher Quote

It rang a bell, once i'd had a moment, have checked his page out, think he'll have an order in the morning. Thanks for your help, and very clear endorsement. Andy Quote
BigRedX Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Unless you're handy with the soldering iron, have access to the components at bulk-buy prices and the time to do the job properly yourself, you can't get better that OBBM's cables. Quote
AndyTravis Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 I've had a few too many shandies to work out exactly what I need (hence the slow thought process, and slightly daft question) so i'll wait til tomorrow, but sounds like a winner to me. Quote
Lozz196 Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 +1 on OBBMs cables. Same price as regular cables such as Planet Waves, but soooooo much better. A/Bd at home against my Planet Waves cable, on my practice amp, the lows using OBBMs cable were so much more present, a much fuller sound. Quote
witterth Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 obbm cables Andy, the dogs. order them, and they arrive on the doostep, dont even have to get your hat wet! W Quote

But the emphasis is on quality here. Really good cables, lots of options (if not on teh list, just email them, they'll make teh cable you ask for) friendly service and really fast delivery. I've been using them (a lot!) for about 9 years now, and the first ones I bought are still going strong. Quote

You could tie a walrus down with OBBM's cables. Unrivalled and for the same price you could make one yourself. Not sure how he does it really. Amazing. Quote
AndyTravis Posted November 19, 2010 Author Posted November 19, 2010 ordered 3 to arrive today, very exciting... Quote
AndyTravis Posted November 19, 2010 Author Posted November 19, 2010 Obbm is a genius. Cheers guys. Cabled up to the teeth now. Quote
Alfie Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Shouldn't there be some sort of OBBM sticky in this forum? Quote
