We had onw rehearsal and then the gigs - sounds like we had no chance!! It goes to show, doesn't it, that the reason the professionals sound good is because they put the hours in, not because they are sprinkled with the magic fairy mojo dust. When JCS re appeared on Broadway in the Early 2000's they had even longer, buts that the Americans for you, Rehearse everything down to the last dotted quaver, nothing left to chance.
