siggi
Can anyone help me identify my Trace Elliot 4x10 ohm rating - panel on the back writing has long since worn away - I took a speaker out and the writing on the back reads 8 ohm 50 w C1008 ??? I presume this means its an 8ohm cab and 200 w max ??? or have I got this all wrong See pics below http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee59/sigggi/IMG_0399.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee59/sigggi/IMG_0400.jpg
Delberthot
I thought that first picture was of the moon with a silver sticker on it at first I think all Trace 4x10"s are 8ohms. It will be 200w RMS, max is normally quoted as double that by some manufacturers
icastle
I presume this means its an 8ohm cab and 200 w max ??? or have I got this all wrong
It'll certainly be a 200W cabinet but the impedance of the cabinet depends on the way that the speakers are wired. Unfortunately, TE have had both 8Ω and 4Ω cabinets in their product range over the years and it's hard to ascertain where this cab came from in the history of TE. It is possible to work out the impedance of the cab by following the wires from the speakers to see how they are connected up but the quickest (and certainly easiest) way of identifying the cab impedance is to grab a cheapy multimeter from somewhere. Just set it to "Ω", plug a lead into the back of the cab and measure the resistance between the tip of the plug and the earth part of the plug. yorick
That'll be the Trace 1048 cab 200w at 8 ohms.

I don't recall there being a 1044 cab. Only 4 ohm cabs I can think of are the 1524 tall 2x15", the BFC was 3 4ohm cabs in one and the 1084 8x10" It looks ike a mark V cab http://www.quicksound.co.uk/articles/trace...mages/10-11.jpg
