Fascinating!

Clearly he's a very accomplished guy with an interesting history.

I can't say I like the designs, though. I guess you have to play them to appreciate them.

I rather like it, and you can see the logic of putting a fat arse on an acoustic bass to try and give it a bit more volume.

Looking at his other instruments (not the family snapshot), they tend to be rather more conventional looking.
