Stag Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 i do stay away from eBay as much as I can these days after a bad experience once, but hey, theres no harm in looking is there.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RICKENBACKER-4000-BA...1QQcmdZViewItem now, im not a Rick expert even though ive owned one for 7 years but this just seems.... odd? Somethings not quite right here. Quote
Bassassin Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I don't think it's a 4000. It should have a through neck. I think the set neck was the 4001S. He's either a bit dim or he's at it. Jon. Quote
Musky Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 It was the other way round Jon. The 4000 had a set neck and the 4001 had a through neck. It looks ok to me, other than the parts he's mentioned and the strap buttons. Quote
Bassassin Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 4001S: http://www.nationwideguitars.com/79_4001S.html 4000: http://www.rickbeat.com/modelslibrary/4000/4000.htm I'd like to see a pic of the rout - if he doesn't know his Ricks he might well assume the wiring channel was a home job. Musky Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I've a 68 4001S and that has a set neck, so I popped over to RickResource to see when they changed. It seems that some 4001 models were produced with set necks, and the 4000 was set neck after the mid '70's. So there are examples about of either basses sporting either type of neck. Does this mean both of us were right, or we were both wrong? Quote
