guitarnbass
I was thinking of nipping into town to check these out, they're made of some peculiar light wieght stuff, and they look pretty, well I think they do, tell me I'm wrong.. Anyone got an opinion on them?
The Burpster
Well they look hotter than a blowtorch flame! For 400 sobs it "looks" pretty good. I'd like to play one!
Machines
I think the A.I.R. thing they go on about is a bit of theory over reality. Seen one in a shop but haven't tried yet...
guitarnbass
well they are only 330 on the net, so if I like it in the shop no way I'm buying it there.
Machines
Sounds reasonable to me - but do try and ask the shop for their price.
guitarnbass
well yeah I would but you know it's gonna be like 450 or something..
The Burpster
gnb.... A few other makers have tried chambered basses (which is what the AIR is) to varying dgerees of success. You can guarentee with Yamaha that it wil be a good instrument that plays way above its cost.... However wether or not the AIR is what you want or floats your boat, you wont know til you play it and preferably plugged in! Good luck and let us know what its like...! Hit&Run
I've seen these basses in a few shops, and will concede that they look nice. I do think they're a little overpriced though.
Danny
I've just read three articles on this bass, all of them revolving around how light weight they are and yet none of them mentioning how much they actually weigh!
OutToPlayJazz
I've played a couple of these - Nice things, but the one I played in SC in Leeds was immediately after an MIM Fender Jazz. The Jazz had a much better 3D sound and a definite growl, as opposed to the quite ordinary (flat) sounding Yamaha. Hope this helps
SJA
hot A.I.R. technology?
The Burpster
hot A.I.R. technology?
Yamaha are pretty good and make genuine efforts to forward products and production. Not all of these are well received or actually as good as they'd like them to be ...... But dont knock 'em 'till you've tried it.... You may be very surprised! SJA
I've got an RBX270F, and it's great for the money, but that AIR sales spiel looks a bit suspect....
