Digitech BP50

I've always been a straight in bloke, but on a whim I bought a Digitech BP50 off ebay, partly just to play around with, but also to try and maybe fatten up my sound a bit.

Trouble ie, its really noisy, even in bypass and with a small amp turned well down theres a pretty high level of hiss.

Is it normal with a cheapo pedal like this, or is it just a duff one ? I'm using it on batteries, so it aint a PSU issue.

The noise gate makes no difference at all.

Don't know about the BP50 but I recently bought a Digitech CF-7 (Chorus Factory) and that hums something wicked. :)

Shame, because it's a really nice pedal otherwise.

I'm re-arranging my pedal board to put it in a separate loop so that it doesn't irritate me too much.

Later edit: It was a power supply issue - moving it onto the built-in p/s on my Gator pedal board cured the problem. Sincere apologies to those lovely people at Digitech!

Thanks for the reply, its not hum, its hiss though.

I'm just really trying to work out if its a normal thing with these, or if its faulty. and if I might be better off with a zoom one.
Would be nice to get an authentic-ish Fender Bassman sound without having to cart my old 2X15 and Bassman 100 head around.
