polarislove36 Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) I found a Marcus Miller signature bass but different with the CIJ 7802.Here are pics. The seller told me it is a custom built on Mexico jazz bass. Could someone tell me is this a genuine or fake one? The Burpster Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I think its fair to say that its no more a genuine MM than I am Pope Bob the first! Quote
matski Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Maybe it was custom built by a Mexican though...? Quote
thebeat Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Faker than a fake thing at a forgery convention and is it just me ? but do those 'inlays' look like Scotchbrite reflective tape for bikes and sh*t? Quote

LawrenceH Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 It annoys me that this listing wasn't pulled a second time for being blatantly misleading. That fake signature decal on the headstock is enough for it to be a breach of copyright, but I don't really mind that, it's more that he's lying by omission about what it really is - at best a butchered Made in Mexico with stickers on the neck. It's not going to sound any more like a Marcus Miller than a standard MIM maple-necked bass, since it doesn't have the right pickup spacing and the body is almost certainly not ash. Quote
jezzaboy Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Mail him and ask if he will accept payment in 18 pound notes. The notes would be as genuine as what he is selling. See what he say`s to that. Jez Quote
Doddy Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I looked at that earlier. Everything about it is wrong. The colour, the inlays, the headstock logo, the bridge, the truss rod,the neck plate......all wrong. Even the chrome pickup cover is a Precision style and not a Jazz. Horrible. Quote
AndyTravis Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 (edited) I doubt it's even ever met a Fender, let alone started out as one. It's just some geezer trying to pull a fast one on Mums and Dad's at Xmas. We should all report it. It's near me (m27) but after my initial jokiness in the previous thread, I fear i'd end up smashing it over his lying bastard head. Edited November 27, 2010 by AndyTravis Quote
charic Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 He could actually believe that as that's what it was sold to him as. Doubt it but possible Quote
spinynorman Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Stupid thing is, I put up a parts bass with a Fender logo on the headstock, no mention of Fender anywhere in the listing or the title and a complete inventory of what all the parts were and where they came from and that got pulled within 24 hours for VERO infringment. I really hope it wasn't bought as a christmas present for someone else Quote
