convair
That 4005 is, well, mmmm... lovely. This is the best thread ever.
Thank you Guys I must tell you I owe this Bass to my Friend Kirk RIP, back in the 70’s & 80’s he use to prowl through something called “The Recycler” which before Ebay was were you looked for used Guitars when you lived in Los Angeles, he found this for $300 it had been painted flat black primer overall w/ some silver trim, he was going to refin it in mapleglo but when he removed the pickguard the black peeled away reveling the original fireglo finish underneath & he was able to remove all the black paint & it’s as you see today, I think that bit of white you see inside the soundhole is left over from the Liquid Gold he used to clean it up with, Cheers

It doesn't look like the usual solid black - more of a smokey colour.

luckman67
My October 1992 4003 bought by my Girlfriend for me in August 1998 for £650. Bought a 4001 V63 scratchplate & vintage knobs and was given a V63 treble pickup surround. I am tempted to have it resprayed Jetglo & returned to a 4003 with the correct scratchplate and treble surround.

I must say it's great to have a Rickenbacker in the fold again. This weighs in at 8lbs 2oz and has a huge range of tones. Punchy as hell. MrFingers
August 1973 and August 1973 (serials are MH XX52 and MH XX63), assembled by the same guy back in the plant, based on the signature in the cavity and pickguard). The Jetglo is 100% original, the "mapleglo" is a stripped jetglo, waxed, with an 80ies 4003 tailpiece (extra screws against taillift) and a ReIssue horseshoe pickup... Both sound awesome, and the horseshoe really makes a difference! (there is also a 1999 Rickenbacker 370/12 MG here, but that's a bit off-topic I guess ) Edited June 13, 2012 by MrFingers
Big_Stu
Regarding Murder One, I'm not sure my back could cope with the whole stack, although I'm always looking out for the signature Marshall amp. Again, there is one that keeps popping up in the States from time to time, but I'm sure as hell not going out to collect that. I would have to buy it a seat for the journey home!
Did they all get made & sold out? I was told at Marshall that they were made to order after Lemmy's went to him; a small stock of heads was being made right then, with the 4 x 15s waiting until they were asked for. Lemmy had wanted vintage cabs - but oops - he got new ones - relic'd.

Delberthot
A few shots of my 2010 mapleglo and one from Friday night's gig I found the neck to be unwieldy and painful to fret after a while until I decided to raise the strap as high as it would go. Absolutely love it now and removing the pickup cover & fitting a black thingy to fill the gap around the pickup make it a joy to play now.
