Rick's Fine '52
Here's my latest addition to the fold, a departure from the usual Fender, but one of these has been on the list since 1989, so time to treat myself, picked it up today, 100% original, including case, almost mint, sounds amazing;

Rick's Fine '52
Spotted this on the bay...wow! I've wanted a proper one of these for 20 odd years, but whenever I've had the money available, a new Fender has always taken preference. I now have all the Fenders I want, and I was offered a chance to get this on a PX with an unwanted bass I had, and the deal/opportunity, and timing was simply too good to miss, its also such a stunning example, also in my colour of choice. It's been a long time coming, and it certainly doesn't dissapoint, and was more than worth the very long wait, I love it. Sound clips?, not sure I have the ability to work out how to do that, but let me see, I have an 11 year old who I'm sure will show me how!!
TCEllis, he does a lot of work for Motorhead, services Phil Campbell's guitar as well, also think Phil plays a TCEllis? A friend of mine had a custom TCEllis a few years back, had a lovely feel to it and was solid as a rock in terms of construction. I've priced up a custom bass from there and it was about £200 more than the other quotes I had, but if Lemmy has his built by this guy it must be pretty good! Might have to price up something from them again soon...
thunderider
what kind of prices were they talking about? i thought bout seeing jaydee to build a ric with grunt!!
JamesBass
Depending on what hardware you went for it was between £800 and £1500 again depending on through neck or bolt on, it was tempting but at the time I decided against it and again still looking but probably gonna pass on the custom route for now. I'm pretty sure if you get in touch with them and opt maybe to buy your hardware yourself and search around it might shave a bit off? An enquiry won't hurt!? 12stringbassist
This has been 'associated' with Lemmy (there are pics of him holding it). Don't think it's ever made it to a stage, though, if he owns it.

Seen a couple of rednecks. Anyone else know of any in UK in that trim spec ? Once saw a 4003s maple with black hardware, that was immense. The 1991 4003 I own (pictured) is a Timewarp condition Bass, case everything could be passed of as brand new. I just love the Black plate basses and Black hardware 4003 was my soft spot as well. davedave
It's a guy called Nick Page that made Lemmy's metal front. http://www.nickpageguitars.com/ I've never had the chance to play one. They look pretty darn sweet though.

About a year ago, Rickenbacker stopped using the African Rosewood, because of the unstable governments around. The Gibson raid woke some guitar makers up. It's Caribbean Rosewood.
