I’d say they were incredibly dissimilar but an interesting bass nonetheless 😉

Well, quite different in quality, for sure; the Vox is plywood.

I got it at a car boot - remember them?

Nothing to do with me...At £1600 it seems a bit too good to be true TBH.

That is an interesting one - it's a transition 4003, with the truss-rod adjustment at the body end.

I'd looked at it earlier in the day, but I don't want to spend more cash just now.

(A couple of weeks ago it was a set of Moog Taurus I was having to hold back from buying!)

That’ll do nicely.

Indeed it will!.. and the previous owner could certainly get a tune out of it!

The 5-string is an interesting one - the neck is a bit chunkier, but it is very playable; I really need to put a new set of strings on it to see where it takes me.

I have been after a Burgundyglo 4001 Ric for ages, but never seen one for sale within a budget. Something made me look at Bass Direct tonight, about 15 minutes ago and this popped up. All original and its a 1975 ( my YOB ) so its now mine, or it will be when it gets delivered. Man I am super happy. Don't think its a bad price either at £2250. I now cant wait for it to arrive 😁

Always fancied a 4001 but the agricultural truss rod system has always put me off.

The hairpin truss rod system is great; the only issue is when people assume it works like a Fender.

So did Rickenbacker in the end....I’ll stick with the 4003,just a shame the neck is such a lump at the nut.

Yep, they changed.
What do you mean a lump at the nut?

Yeah I can understand that, at least with a Fender truss rod you know that you loosen it is the buzz is on the first few frets and tighten if it is in the last few frets, nice and simple
