slazman Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Reviving an old thread here ... trying to get close as possible to the sound as this number is all about the effect (as many Muse basslines are). Having viewed threads here and on Talkbass, watched many YouTube clips I am guessing either a Digitech Synth Wah or EHX Bassballs is required. I have never ventured into the world of the envelope filter so any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Note I cannot afford an Akai Deep Impact even if I wanted to look for one! Quote
tom123 Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Plug in baby is big muff into envelope filter(either ehx q-tron or some deep impact setting) with a clean blend although you can get pretty close with bass synth wah on envelope filter setting Quote
EskimoBassist Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Just a nice fuzz into a filter firing downwards is going to get you close. I've only messed around with the song once with a band, but I added some octave down in as well to beef it up. Quote
Higgie Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 (edited) I use a Fuzz (Swollen Pickle Clone) and a Filter (Subdecay Proteus) set with the depth all the way down, so the frequency knob acts like a wah pedal. I leave it open so it accentuates the hi-mid/treble end of the spectrum and blend that whole thing with my clean signal. Sounds the nuts! Edited March 5, 2012 by Higgie Quote
