alanmian Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 (edited) For Sale SOLD SOLD SOLD SX Ursa Jazz Bass 5 I got this bass a while ago to use as a "spare" on tour in case i broke a string mid song. It has now served its pupose and its time it found a new home. These chinese made basses are very popular in the U.S. and provide a cheap way of getting the fender Marcus vibe. There's a trend in the U.S. of people buying these and then modding them with better pickups or a pre amp etc. The bass is literally as new with an ash body, maple neck and maple fingerboard. It also comes with the bridge ashtray cover, thumbrest and a brand new rectangular hardcase. Would like to deal face to face so no posting i'm afraid. I'm in London. All this for ... £180 Note: the block inlays appear silver under the glare of the camera flash but they are black. Thanks for looking Alan. Edited December 18, 2010 by alanmian
oldslapper Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Mate of mine is after an SX 5 string. I'll let him know. John
Baskesman Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Great sound these Jazzes!! They got 70's pickup spacing. Great for mods indeed but I preferred to keep the original pups because they sound fantastic!
derrenleepoole Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 This is well priced, especially with a hard case. Not a huge fan of the Ursa headstock design, but it works well on the 5er models. These are great instruments for sure. Good luck with the sale
therealting Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 These are pretty cool - I am trying desperately to get hold of the six-string version. Alan is a phenomenal player and an ultra-nice guy... he helped me loads with my playing years ago and I wasn't even one of his students! Johann
alanmian Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 Thanks Johann, Hope everything is going well for you. BUMP!
smoke Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Hi Alan, What are the two white looking holes each side of the bridge? Was something modified on the bass? TA David
waynepunkdude Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010
Hi Alan, What are the two white looking holes each side of the bridge? Was something modified on the bass? TA David
It would have had an 'ashtray' there, like this. They get in the way a lot of people take them off.
alanmian Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 Yes, these holes are where the bridge cover used to be screwed in. Alan.
alanmian Posted December 4, 2010 Author Posted December 4, 2010 Bump! BTW. If anyone is thinking of buying this as a project for modding, i have a John East J Retro 01 pre amp for sale to for £100 Thanks Alan.
adledman Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 didnt see this! bummer. looks like a lot of bass for the money. what do they play like?
