iconic Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 This is quite wierd for me as, I like the bass as a lead instrument slapping 'n shaking the walls! ...but found this and thought, this guy can really play....sooooo smooooooth... nice old Fender Jazz by the look of it...JEROME RIMSON so says the vid....I've never heard of him? Sorta plays 'just ever so slightly' behind the beat, if that makes sense? ...and now I reckon you can't have a Jazz without one of those cool hats Ebay? enjoy Quote
lowdown Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Mr Al Jarreau, one of my favourite Linnets. Great version of this tune - his voice is so controlled. Yep it is nice and smooth. Garry Quote
Count Bassy Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 (edited) Jerome Rimson is great. Played with 'Roger Chapman and the Shortlist' back in the late 70s. Have a listen to the 'Live in Hamburg' LP if you can (surely one of the best live albums of all time), some wonderful bass going on and in quite a different style to the above sample. iconic Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 twilight zone!!! I'm trying to play Detroit Emeralds Feel the Need....finding it tough. ....bassist Mr Rimson spooky! Quote
Johngh Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Jerome also used to do a regular support spot on Gastank with Rick Wakeman. He played a Ricky then, or at least a very good Ricky copy. Quote
barneyg42 Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Very nice! It dont have to be played at a million miles an hour to sound good, but beware, the anti Elton brigade will be here soon Quote
JTUK Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I have a memorable Live Roger Chapman gig on vinyl and Rimson is fantastic on it. His style on that was very Rocco Prestia with chops, IMO. I really will have to get my vinyl saved into digital so I can easily play all that stuff again.. Quote
