JJTee Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 For my money, Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody is hard to beat. A great stomping bassline from Jim Lea! (If anyone wants a copy of a spot-on transcription, PM me - I have it from an old magazine) Closely followed by the bass line to Wham's Last Christmas - I assume played by Deon Estus? Just a nice, nice bass line. Quote
HMX Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Bit of an annoying song I find, but the bass line is ooooh so good! I'm feeling slightly more festive now! Quote
Chris2112 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Here it is, the only Elton John song I'll listen to. Great bassline, very groovey and with a nice sense of movement throughout it, it really drives the song. Lovely jazz bass sound too! Quote
Delberthot Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) A big +1 on the waitresses. The best bass line for me and I have to agree that its slightly annoying. When it was still acceptable, Paul Gadd's Christmas song was good fun to play Edited December 4, 2010 by Delberthot Quote
JPJ Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) Got to be the Slade on hasn't it. Mind you when I did a stint with a cabaret band (i know I know, the shame of it ) I was sick of playing it by the end of the Christmas party season in January BTW, why do people have Christmas party nights in January? Delberthot Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Another reason is that they work in an area that cannot take the time off during the christmas period eg Hotels, Restaurants etc Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Always the Waitresses, Its one of my fave basslines outright never mind christmas! Sir duke, Soul to squeeze(Chillis) and waitresses chrismas rappin' are at the moment my top 3. Quote
