Been playing Simply The Best for a while now, but the verse slap riff isn't as punchy as I'd like.

I'm tempted to buy a Line 6 Floor Pod and wondered whether it would be good for this song too??

go for it, majority of your slap tone comes from your technique though not your gear

a compressor will help though, and the line6 floor pod has a pretty good one so ive read.

Use a compressor for that squishy, compressed sound and boost your highs and lows and reduce mids to your liking for a scooped sound. If you want a proper sparkly 80's sound, add a dab of chrous too.
