yorks5stringer Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Just had a message from Phil from Bass Gear, they have a power outage at the Showrrom in Harrogate, so if anyone was thinking of calling in today it would be better if they could postpone it! Quote
Born 2B Mild Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 More than an outage, it was a bloomin' explosion . The electricity generator next door went bang in the middle of the night. No damage to Bass Gear, though the smell wasn't nice and the power is coming and going, plus the noise of the temporary generator (in pic) was a bit annoying. Didn't stop a very nice customer coming this morning and buying a Bag End and a Little Mark Tube though. Even made the BBC ... Harrogate restaurant substation explosion cuts power Le Bistrot Pierre Supplies were restored by Saturday morning Hundreds of properties were left without power for up to 10 hours after an explosion at an electrical substation in North Yorkshire. An electrical fault is thought to have caused the minor blast in Cheltenham Parade, in the centre of Harrogate, on Friday evening. The substation is in the basement of a three-storey building which houses Le Bistrot Pierre restaurant and offices. [And Bass Gear's showroom -Ed] CE Electric said 524 customers lost power after the incident at 1830 GMT. All supplies were restored by 0430 GMT on Saturday, the firm said. A restaurant spokesman said the building had to be evacuated and some property had been damaged by the fire. The restaurant reopened on Saturday afternoon. Quote
