sk8
i had an email the beginning of the month saying they would ship to the uk and included the costs. has something happened in the interim?
Jase
Really, that's weird I had mine a week ago If that's the case I'm gutted, I wanted another one.
Sean
I'm getting a friend of mine to email and see if he gets a different response. Maybe certain staff overlook such things where others reinforce the rule - who knows? Really gutted now and my bonus is burning a hole... Faithless
Well, I've heard they are only making guitars for their own, Japan-inside-only market. If you still want 'em, you gotta make the order to the factory for about 10,000$, i believe.

As an aside, quality quote from ishibashi website (underneath photo of random guitars): "It is absolutely profitable. Guitar for introduction to Mavis." Obviously Mavis is the brand-name, but that doesn't matter! Sheesh that website's frustrating! Edited January 23, 2008 by Hit&Run
Sean
And now I have another reply my friend got from a different member of Ishibashi's staff:- "Thank you for your e-mail. This is Tomonori from Ishibashi WEB SHOP. I am taking to you on behalf of Koichi. I am afraid to say that we can not sell Fender Japan products for overseas right now. we received this notification from Fender Japan. We are very sorry for inconvenience. Your full understanding of this matter would be greatly appreciated. If you have a question, please let me know. Thank you very much. Best regards," It looks like it's all over! Oh well, I'm off to find a used Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub and some sushi instead. Saying that though, surely Ishi aren't the only source for these? Jase
Well, that's a bit of a blow there are some other options, http://www.fareastguitars.co.uk/index.htm http://www.guitaremporium.co.uk/ http://www.mijfenders.com/index.htm There may be others I'm not sure. I was lucky, I made it by a week or so. Shame though, it was a good crack.

Hit&Run
So where does definitely ship Japanese fender goodies to the UK? I quite liked the look of www.rockinn.co.jp, but their banner states "sorry, we can only accept orders from Japan only". I need a white Japanese jazz bass real badly! I just placed my order with Malcolm at the guitar emporium, and I'm glad I did. There is a price reduction on the Jap range, plus I also negotiated the price down a bit more. rockinbassman
Just to add to the 'Jap' talk. I have a Jap 75RI, and to be honest its the only bass I play at the moment! I love it, built quality is fantastic and plays like a dream. I tried out a standard US model the other day and way totallt unimpressed compared to my RI. Also as they are not expensive basses, I dont feel too worried about some chav knocking it over when bombarding the stage at one of my residencies. (Oceana clubs are a nightmare!). Im taking mine on a cruise to abuse it for 4 months, and im positive it will be great. Unless you can afford the real deal (a good one at that), then I totally advise anyone to buy one!!! It was MrRuss who got me onto them, im sure he will agree!
