Jathan
Hi all, A bit of a random question and apologies if its quite vague. I have purchased a 2nd hand made in USA P Bass neck which has never been used, and I was expecting it to use standard US tuners. I think the neck itself is about 8-10 years old. I bought one of the Fender tuners that has the 2 prongs on the back rather than screws as the neck itself does have 2 pre-drilled holes on the back of the headstock by where each would go in. However when I came to fit the tuner I found that the holes were too small and too close together (and in fact on wrong side of the hole) for these to fit. I compared the holes to the tuners on a couple of other guitars - a Mexican Fender and a Squier Bass but the screws holes were not in the same place to screw in. I have attached a picture and I am wondering if anyone has any idea what sort of tuners would go on here as it seems that the holes there are too close together for most of the tuners I have seen!!! Thanks for any help. Edited December 8, 2010 by Jathan
bumnote
If you go to the Gotoh web site http://www.hosco.co.jp/HOSCO_ENGLISH/Pages/Gotoh.html They have drawings of various size tuners thay may help. Alternatively, look up bassparts resource http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/middle_bass.htm They have some measurements that may help you
neepheid
Could fit a Schaller M4S - check the technical diagram here: http://bass-machine-heads.com/hp135297/Bas...d8cX7b65#tab_tz I'll see if I have a photo of the back of the headstock of my Gibson Victory Artist, it uses Gibson branded M4S tuners. EDIT: there you go: Edited December 8, 2010 by neepheid
Jathan
Thanks very much for the replies. I have found out that the US P Basses from 2000 and a few years after used Schaller tuners which are listed as XBS-1C.. I cant find any pics of the back of these tuners to show the prongs and if these would fit the holes. If anyone has a Schaller XBS-1C please can you add a pic of the side that meets the wood so that I can see if these are close together, or if possible measure the distance between the prongs. It might not be these but seems to match some of the details you have listed. Thanks all for the help with this, much appreciated. Thanks.
