Simon Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 For the Jamerson and Motown lovers out there... The Transcription: http://www.thebassment.info/artists/other_artists.html A little play along video: Enjoy! Quote
YouMa Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I can read music but im not that fast, why have you stopped doing the tab,i think your site would get a lot more hits if you continued doing tab as well as notation, nice website though, its just for more complicated bass lines the actual playing technique takes up loads of time so it would be easier to have tab rather than to sit down and have to work through notation, cheers. I will be trying to get TAB versions up of everything as soon as I can. It just takes a lot more time to do. Quote
nick Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Nice job, well recorded, cleanly played - thanks. Quote
danthewelshy Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Thanks! Loved just going through this one.. Quote
Simon Posted December 11, 2010 Author Posted December 11, 2010 Thanks! Pleased to hear you like the transcription. Quote
Sean Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 (edited) Really nice version, Simon. I'm going to have a crack at this now; it's one of my favourite songs ever and definitely one of my "funeral songs". Just for a comparison to show how darn good this is, here's Jamerson's bass track isolated... Edited December 11, 2010 by Sean Quote
lonestar Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 (edited) I heard the vocal tracks isolated on this. Spine tinglingly good and I think it was done in one take. Mind you this is pretty sublime too ! Edited December 11, 2010 by lonestar Quote
JakeBrownBass Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Great transcription as always Simon. Quote
Simon Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Thanks guys! Yes, that isolated Jamerson bass line is superb. What a gem! Wish I could get all bass lines like that! Quote
EBS_freak Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Excellent again Simon. Must start transferring all my paper written stuff into some new falngled computer thing. What you guys feeling? Sibelius or Finale? Quote

What are the pros and cons... sorry for derailing the thread a little, you reckon I should start a new one.... in fact, I shall... Quote
Lo. Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Great job! Shameless link to my version - learnt by ear and stitched the bits of best of a few takes together over the backing track without the original bass on it. Simon Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 Very nice Lo. - Im a fan of your videos... you have the sound nailed! EBS, I use Sibelius. Personally I found it a lot easier to use... more intuitive IMHO. Quote
