StevieD_FenderP2009 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 If you look on that pic, you can see a black thing inside the truss rod hole, does anyone know what this is and where I can get a couple of them? Cheers! Quote
Bloodaxe Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Blind guess - A plastic sleeve to prevent the allen key scratching things up? Quote
KiOgon Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 +1 @ Bloodaxe ^ I've run a magnifier over my MiM P head & it does look like a plastic liner, it's the only 1 of mine that has it. Quote
waynepunkdude Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I think he wants to know what it is called so he can order one? Quote
StevieD_FenderP2009 Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Aye, I wanna know what it is or where I can get one so I can fit one to my basses Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 You can make one from a liquorice allsort if you drill the white bit out Quote
Musky Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010
Aye, I wanna know what it is or where I can get one so I can fit one to my basses
I should imagine it's just a piece of black plastic piping that's been cut flush with the headstock during manufacture rather than something that's just installed afterwards as is. So maybe hit up your local hardware store for something of the appropriate diameter and thickness? Shaping it might prove a bit tricky though. Quote
StevieD_FenderP2009 Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Cheers musky. I was hoping Fender would sell them as seperate accesories or whatever but it doesn't look like they do. Looks like your idea seems to be the best thing to do. Cheers dude Quote

I suspect that, if the bass didn't have one fitted in the first place, there probably won't be room for a piece of plastic piping. Quote

As stated it looks like a bit of pipe cut off to the shape of the hole. Quote
steve-soar Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 It's called a Mangaloot Tone Cuff. I believe Fodera use Unicorn umbilical cord for their truss rods. Quote

So perhaps you could bung a bit of wood in and drill through it? Quote
StevieD_FenderP2009 Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 Yeah i think I might do that Mart, seems like the best idea Quote
