FS/FT: Hofner Club

Hi all

I just received this in a trade a couple of weeks ago. It's a Hofner Club bass, one of the Contemporary models - basically a new version of the old classics. Here's the official blurb: -

"Contemporary Series version of the classic Club Bass with cutaway design

The Hofner Club bass CT is based around the Höfner originals of the '60s and ´80s.

The Hofner Contemporary Series models are no yesterday's collectors' items, but designed for the tough live performance of today's bass player. The contemporary version of the Club bass:The center block improves sustain. Fitted with original Hofner 'Staple-Top' pickups ."

It's absolutely immaculate. The previous owner apparently only used it to record with, and I've only taken it to one rehearsal, and there's not a mark on it. It's quite light, but not stupidly light like the Hofner violin bass I once owned), and has a lovely rich, fat tone. It's currently strung with Rotosound tapewound strings, so gives an instant 60's sound.

I've just taken some pics. Excuse a couple of rain drops on the pics - typically it just started as I went outside: -

As you can see, it's in 'as new' condition, and comes with an antique strap, and locking strap nuts. I've got the original strap nuts too, which will be included. I don't have a case for this, so would very much prefer a face-to-face (see below for location).

Couple of clips to give you an idea: -

The second clip is played on a vintage Club bass, I think, but my Contemporary sounds just like it.

Price wise, this owes me £375, so rather than be haggled, I'll say £350 on this. They retail at £499, so it's a decent price I think. I'd prefer to sell this outright, as I'm trying to raise the funds to buy a Jack Casady, but I'm open to trades. I've nothing specifically in mind (apart from a Jack Casady), so feel free to PM me any trade offers.

I'm just off j.12 of the M40 (nr Gaydon), but my office is in Solihull, and I travel a fair bit with work.

Any questions, just ask.

Cheers

I'm open to pretty much anything (oo-er missus)... I was originally trying to sell this to buy a Jack Casady, but I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that it's the wrong time to be selling a bass! So, I'd be looking for a bass (P or J shaped), possibly something like a Phil Jones Bass Buddy, possibly valvey-type effects. Don't mind adding a few quid my end if the right thing came up.

PM me if you've got anything in mind...

Aye, it is a really nice bass, and sounds amazing. However, I just won't use it, so want it to go to a decent home instead of it gathering dust here. Can't tempt you away from your CIJ PB-70 then? :)
