farmer61
Am looking at either a Standard Black T-bird or a Nikki Sixx T-Bird, both about the same price once import duty taken into consideration, these are to join my White T-bird. Interstesed to hear constructive views on both basses, I have never had my hands on a sixx version and because of availability and prob never will, so this would be a slight leap of faith. Please no T-birds are sh*te or one trick pony posts. Thanks
retroman
Very slightly OT, there's a 76 Bicentennial Thunderbird IV on Ebay, and also a '64 Thunderbird II on Ebay US if the vintage ones float ya boat as well

I found a black 76 in the US, but I'm too afraid to enquire about the price....! Edited December 17, 2010 by farmer61

Also looks a bit too shiny not to be a refin, though could be wrong Mike Lull do a nice take on the 60's T'birds; http://www.mikelull.com/Instruments/T_Series.htm - nicer than the current Gibbos IMO, although bound to be pricey
retroman
Thanks for the PM Farmer 61 That's the one Shaggy, I noticed the listing was a little duff on the info, and it does look a little too good for a 46 year old!

JP Soundsystem
T-Birds are sh*te and they are a one-trick pony! (sorry, couldn't resist!) I was looking at the Sixx Blackbirds the other day. I noticed that the ONLY control on them was an on/off switch. No volume, no tone controls. If you don't like the tone, you're pretty much screwed. Which kind makes the Blackbird a one trick pony (the irony!) I'd get a standard black one, at least then you can blend the pickup volume/tone to your liking. I hope this helps. Lozz196
That bodes for a very poor next Crue album, Nikki Sixx getting all technical. The Sixxster should stick to what he`s best at - bass on full, one note through the whole song, and let Mick Mars` awful yet brilliant guitar churn out some quality Crue riffs. JP Soundsystem
Plus, who can forget the single biggest advancement in bass technology since Leo said "I'm gonna make an electric fretted bass": The 'Opti-Grab'!! Cheers Nikki, your contribution to the world of bass will never be forgotten.
