KnuckleHead514
Hey guys, I'm in a metal band, and we're hoping to gig during the spring I'm looking for an amp, combo or half stack, which isn't too expensive (£350 - £500) I have an Ibanez GSR200, with a Zoom B1x multi-effects pedal Please help! Thanks
LiamPodmore
Buy used from the For Sale forums on here, and go for atleast a 410 i'd say, maybe add a 115 or another 410. Don't need to get a really powerful amp, 400w or so should be fine. All IMO of course. Hope it helped. Liam
Musky
If you're happy to buy secondhand it's relatively easy to buy decent cabs for around the £100 mark. Because of the size/weight of these things they're often up for sale as collection only meaning there are often bargains to be had if you can pick it up in person. It depends on where you live and how far you're prepared to travel of course, but if you wait something will turn up locally. I've seen Trace, Hartke, Peavey and Ashdown stuff go for great prices and they're all worth considering. There's plenty more stuff worth considering that can go cheap as well. That would leave you with enough cash to buy a new amp like the Hartke LH500 if you wanted. Why not have a scout round ebay and the for sale forum, see what's available and post back here to solicit opinions.
xgsjx
If you can stretch to £600 (sell your Xmas pressies on boxing day maybe?) then a s/h Markbass CMD 102p would do you proud. there's one in the for sale here. I play in a rock band, an alt dot band and starting a DnB experiment & I have no trouble drowning out noisy guitarists, moving things off shelves etc.
KnuckleHead514
Hey guys, Thanks for the replies, although I think I've found something that would do me good in the long run: A Hartke LH500 and An Ashdown MAG410T Off the website www.thomann.de Perfect pricing at £492, but I was wondering would these go well? Lozz196
Don`t know much about Ashdown cabs, but the Hartke XL cabs are nice, and there`s an absolute bargain here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...9&hl=hartke Theres also a Hartke Hydrive 4x10 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=64952 Out of all the rigs I`ve had, I`d say the Hartke was the most versatile, and think this may well have been due to the speakers, they just seemed to reproduce anything I dialled into the amp. Mog
that should work fine. you wont get the full 500 watts out of the head but you wont need it unless the guitarist(s) are running at idiotic levels. those mag cabs have a nice low end. great for the price imo.
