Mykesbass
Seen a couple of good mentions of Status Hotwire Half Rounds and sounds like they could be what I'm looking for when my neck returns with a new fretless board. Just a bit concerned from the Status website about scale lengths - the long scale are for 35" or 34" with through body stringing but the medium scale are for 32". Will the long scale be ok for 34" through bridge stringing?
Happy Jack
I have Status Hot Wire roundwounds on my Alleva Coppolo. The A/C is not through-body and there's at least a full inch of string beyond the retainer. Here's a photo of the headstock with the OLD strings (i.e. NOT Hot Wires): [attachment=66807:DSCF3845.JPG] Note the placement of the red windings on the A, D and G strings. With the Hot Wires strung instead, the equivalent winding for the E string is in roughly the same position as the other three as shown here. My guess is that they'll cope fine with through-body stringing. I love Hot Wires - they're the first strings I've tried that made me buy the same again for other basses. Mykesbass
Thanks HappyJack. That's such a tidy headstock I had to recount the number of strings a couple of times! p.s. How's the leg? Edited December 19, 2010 by Mykesbass
Happy Jack
Leg is just ... ern ... there. Doesn't do much, doesn't hurt, can't be seen under all that plaster. Very boring really. Roll on Monday 10th January ...
