help with copper shielding please!

Hello One & All.

Need some advice please! - I want to screen the cavity and the scratch plate on an old bass I have and a mex telecaster guitar.....Do i need to earth anything ?? I know its a daft question but I really don't know! - Is it something that I should get my repair shop to do instead?

All of the copper needs to be earthed, and connected to each other piece, if it isn't the stuff with conductive glue. Really, you need to check it all for continuity with a meter once it is all in. Easier using paint.

Shielding is fully explained there, albeit on Stratocasters. The key principles are well explained, along with some helpful tips.

I've had some success obtaining graphite paint from evil bay, which creates an electrically conductive layer when painted onto the control cavity. Much easier than trying to fit copper to the contours.
